* National technology day is observed every year on 11th May in India .

* National technology day was first observed on may 11, 1999. this day marks the anniversary of POKHRAN, nuclear test of 1998 and Indian technology advancements in the space.

* Pokhran nuclear test were a series of five nuclear bomb test explosions conducted by the Indian Army at the pokhran test range .

* (Q)- Why was the day decleared as National technological day ?

ANS-> On this day , we commemorate OPERATION SHAKTI the pokhran nuclear test conducted on May 11 ,1998.

The government of India , officially 11th, May as a national technological day to commemorate on the 5th nuclear test that were successfully carried out on 11th May 1998.

# OPERATION SHAKTI : POKHRAN (2)

* ON 11TH MAY 1998, INDIA successfully fired operation shakti missiles at the Indian Army pokhran test range in rajasthan , the first among the five nuclear test in pokhran .

*The test was lead by Aerospace engineer and late president DR. APJ ABDUL KALAM. later prime minister Late Dr. Atal bihari vajpayee declered India a nuclear state , making it the 6th country ton join the " nuclear club " of nations .

* Hence since 1999, May 11 is celebrated as " national technological day " .

* The word shakti in sanskrit means POWER.

* "Smilling buddha " was the first Nuclear test at pokhran which was carried out in may 1974.

* The 2nd test was pokhran (2) which was a series of (5) test of nuclear bomb explosions , administered by India at the pokhran test range of Indian Army in May 1998.

* Pokhran (2) or operation shakti comprised of five out of which the first one was a fusion bomb while the other four were fission bombs.

* The Indian Army in collaboration with scientists of defence research and development organisation (DRDO) , Bhabha atomic research center (BARC) , Atomic minerals directorate for exploration and research (AMDER).

* On 11th May 1998 operation shakti an pokhran (2) was initiated with the detention of two fission and one fusion bomb .

* On 13th May 1998 two additional fission bomb were denoted and the government that time in India was run by Dr. Atal bihari vajpayee , then prime minister shortly converted a press conference to declare INDIA as full- fledged nuclear state .

* The original name of the operation was " operation shakti-98" and five nuclear devices were classified as shakti (1) to shakti (2) . And now , the whole operation is known as pokhran (2) and pokhran (1) 1974.
